Welcome to my portfolio for the Online Teaching Excellence Award. My name is Daphne King and I am the MSW Online Program Director and Term Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work in the College of Public Health. My scholarship focuses on self-esteem for adolescents and treatment modalities to address mental health issues for women of color, as well as best practice in online education. ​In my dual role of program director and professor, I often hear students discuss their experience within the program, with other faculty, and within the larger university. A primary theme I hear from students involves connecting and engaging with faculty. With these conversations in mind and feedback from students, I strive to humanize my work with students to foster connection and engagement on all levels.​ The courses I have taught are SOCW 600, SOCW 683, and SOCW 675.
